Gratitude-Return to the Society

It makes you feel good when you help others.

Here's a short story:

When I was doing my FYP, I was lucky enough that my FYP journey was made easy with the help of a support community. This was made possible by the MATLAB and ANSYS Facebook community which helped me a lot allowing me to complete my FYP in time and I manage to pass with flying colors. Certainly, it wasn't possible for me to complete my FYP without their support, insights, and mentorships.

With that being said, I have taken a pledge to help anyone in the community groups in the ways I could to give back to society.

It's a noble act to help anyone in need in the ways possible because it will not only make you feel good but also create a better society out there. Imagine, how far this could lead if people are willing to help others. Eliminate the ego and start taking action.

People change ~ Character, Attitude, Respect

Why?

People are in hunger for societal acceptance which is achieved via societal conformance giving them social security.

Societal Acceptance:

People act in certain ways because they want to be accepted by society as this makes them feel good mentally and physically.

Social Conformance:

People feel good if they follow a set of standards of living because it gives the feeling of doing right with the pledge of getting right as done by many.

Social Security:

Our mind is programmed to find the easiest + fastest way towards survival which means we opt to neglect the tough roads ahead. Therefore, social security is being valued.

All of these factors influence the mind and hence, people change if these social aspects fluctuate.

P/S: All views expressed briefly are based on my experience working with people on different projects.

Why Extra-Curricular Activities?

These are among the questions which I'm often asked by many.

"Why do you join many events?"
"Aishhh...event ah?"
"Why you so busy ah?"

Let me tell you the "Whys?"

1. ECA helped me improve my confidence in communication. If back then in school, I had little confidence in communication, well, thanks to ECA,  it helped drive me to where I am today.

2. ECA helped me understand life beyond university better and helped me build a network to manage expectations and reality.

3. ECA helped me to gauge how society treats you and who to trust i.e. cronyism, favoritism, bias, racism, conformance, and etc.

4. ECA helped inspire me in different ways and aspects which define my life purpose as well.

5. ECA helped me to learn and adapt to different communities.

To date: I've got a cumulative of 117 events and competition participation throughout the 5 years of undergraduate journey ranging from events, sports, competition at the university, national and international levels.

I wasn't expecting that an application 3 days before deadline will end up to spending 5 years in UTP.

I started Foundation in Engineering journey with the offer to pursue Petroleum Engineering degree. However, the global oil turmoil made me shift my mind to Mechanical Engineering and I was lucky enough that my request was approved upon receiving a scholarship.

The journey in Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS has been full of surprises.

There were times where I suffered, lost friends, and break-downs in which here are some complied lessons for the future:

1. Establish the right network.

2. Never trust people in projects. People change.

3. Don't make a decision under the influence of emotions.

4. Never reveal secrets. Secret is a weapon.

5. Don't listen to all the distractions. Focus on yourself.

6. Physical and mental strengths are self-core.

Charity/Donation Work

I would say that doing charity works /donations make others' life better, (to a certain extend which may or not create impact),  and in...
